The morning after the night before – 24/4/10

Written by  Julian Peck

Those of us that enjoyed the very generous hospitality of Tom’s parents in law set off on the long drive to Coonabarabran, some rather less tired and emotional than they deserved. The journey itself was uneventful taking some 6 hours, though it did provide the opportunity for us to take a look at some beautiful countryside, there-by scratching the surface of the country. One of the more alert passengers spotted some Emus in a field the size of a small county.

On arrival at the Acacia Lodge Motel Rifles were collected and made ready for the shoot tomorrow. Some team members having practiced that day offered to sell elevation settings, though after a few amber looseners the numbers were extracted.

The evening concluded with a formal dinner hosted by the Coonabarabran Rifle Club in celebration of their new 1500 yard range. Soon to be extended to 1 mile! Pairs were drawn for the team match split between one GB and one Aus member. Apparently this was a random draw (hem hem). We look forward to the match tomorrow.

Will Mott blogged today.
